WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team opened the Northeast Elite from the Williamsport Country Club on Sunday morning. They maintain a tie for second place through an incomplete first round.

While all of the Diplomats completed their first round, a mid-day weather disruption forced a later stoppage of the round at 6:50 p.m. due to darkness for players from six of the teams competing in the tournament.

F&M ended round one with a team score of 291 (+7) to put them in a team with Stevens for second place, although the Ducks were unable to complete their round. Gettysburg leads the way with a three-stroke advantage (288, four-over par) over the second-place tie.

Troy Gregg leads the way for the Diplomats individually, as the first-year golfer is in a tie for fifth place after carding an even-par 71. After a one-over front nine, he posted a one-under 34 on the back nine with eight pars and one birdie. 

Sebastian Botero and Wayne He each ended Sunday with a score of 73 (+2) to put them in a tie for 14th. Botero was one-over par on the front nine with an eagle on the 456-yard par-five sixth hole. He went one over with two birdies on the back nine. He also went one over on both the front nine and back nine, totaling two birdies on the round. Max Silverman completed the team score with a three-over 74. He stayed at even par on the front nine with two birdies, although he struggled on the back nine with a run of three-straight bogeys. Riley Norton finished one stroke back from Silverman with a four-over par 75 to tie for 36th. He opened the round with back-to-back birdies on a one-over front nine before ending with the day with a four-over par back nine. 

The Diplomats will conclude the Northeast Elite tomorrow morning. While the Diplomats completed round one, individuals that need to complete their opening 18 will tee off at 9:00 a.m. Round two will commence at 10:00 a.m.
