Box Score

Oct. 7, 2006

LANCASTER - Trailing 14-0 going into the final quarter, Franklin & Marshall scored a touchdown and, after getting the ball back, drove to the Johns Hopkins 12 yard line late in the fourth quarter.

But a Kyle Turner pass was picked off in the back of the end zone by Blue Jay Chris Chauvin enabling the visitors to run out the clock and top Franklin & Marshall 14-7 Saturday at Franklin & Marshall.

F&M's record fell to 2-3, 1-1 in conference play.

The Blue Jays got on the board in the opening quarter when Evan Earnest caught a 13-yard TD pass from Adam Waddell. They would add to their lead in the second stanza when Phil Roberts ran it in from three yards out to make it 14-0 before half.

It appeared Hopkins was going to sew things up with a 14-0 lead and driving midway through the final period. But a Ben Scott 42-yard field goal attempt was blocked, giving F&M new life.

From there, Kyle Turner hit receiver Paul Sousa for a 61-yard TD strike, putting the Dips back in the game. Sousa caught five passes on the day for 143 yards. Turner was 17-of-35 with three interceptions and one touchdown.

F&M got the ball back one more time and had an impressive drive before the late interception.

Waddell had a good day for the Blue Jays, going 14-for-24 for 132 yards and one interception. Corey Sattler and Earnest caught four passes each.
