#2 Gettysburg Knocks Off Franklin & Marshall 14-3 in Men's Lacrosse

LANCASTER, PA - Attackman Brian Pryor had four goals and an assist to lead the #2 Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team to a 14-3 victory at Franklin & Marshall College in the Centennial Conference regular season finale.

Gettysburg (14-1, 8-0 Centennial Conference), which will host the Centennial Conference playoffs next weekend with Dickinson College, Haverford College and Washington College, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter as Prior found the back of the goal twice, Ted Leonard added a score and Trip Dyer chipped in a man-up goal and an assist.

The lead expanded to 5-0 with 3:02 left in the second quarter as Chris Renzi finished a pass from Evan Gallant, but the Diplomats responded as Mark Hild (Fr., Denver, CO/Denver East) netted an unassisted goal with 1:56 left in the quarter to pull F&M to within four goals.

However, the Bullets went on a scoring spree prior to halftime as Gettysburg netted four goals in 93 seconds for a 9-1 lead at the break.

Dyer started the run for the Bullets as he scored off an assist from Pryor at the 1:35 mark. Gallant, Pryor and Stu Whelehan finished off the spurt on unassisted goals with 47, 37 and two seconds left in the half as Gettysburg pushed the lead out to eight scores.

The margin grew to 10-1 midway through the third quarter as Greg Montgomery netted an unassisted goal at the 8:36 mark. Brett Leppert (Fr., Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) trimmed the lead back to eight goals with a score at 1:51, but Pryor tacked on his fourth goal of the game with 17 seconds left in the quarter for an 11-3 lead entering the final 15 minutes of play.

The Bullets ran the lead out to 14-2 in the fourth as JR Parker, Kenny Levene and Ben Sufrin scored at 10:59, 9:19 and 5:51, respectively, while F&M's Hunter Rock (So., Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) closed out the scoring with a goal off an assist from Hild with 2:25 to play for the 14-3 final score.

In goal, Tim Kjeldgaard (So., Yarmouth, ME/Hyde) took the loss allowing 13 goals with six saves in 51 minutes, while Chris Marcozzi (Fr., Springfield, PA/Malvern Prep) played the final nine minutes allowing one goal with four saves.

Pat Vaughan picked up the win for the Bullets making 15 saves with two goals allowed in 53 minutes before being relieved by three other back-up goalies

Franklin & Marshall concludes the season 5-9, 1-7 in Centennial Conference play.
