Bullets Drop Diplomats

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - #2 Gettysburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back in handing Franklin & Marshall a 14-5 loss in Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse action on Saturday. The loss leaves Franklin & Marshall with a 6-7 (3-5) mark, while Gettysburg improved to 12-2 (7-1 CC).

Four different players scored in the Bullets' opening salvo, with Trip Dyer netting a pair. Franklin & Marshall's Mark Hild (Denver, CO / Denver East) finally got his team on the board with the first of his pair on the day. Hild's initial goal came in the latter half of the second quarter. Gettysburg's Ben Surfin scored the game winner two minutes later.

Gettysburg was set to take a 7-1 lead into the break, but Brett Leppert (Baltimore / John Carroll) struck with 12 ticks remaining in the first half. Cyrus Adams (Nashville, TN / Montgomery Bell) made it 7-3 early in the third quarter striking on an extra man opportunity with the first of his two goals 1:23 in. The Bullets responded with its second five-goal run of the day.

Dyer and Joe Brody each scored four goals for the Bullets, while Dyer assisted on two more. In addition to his game-winning goal, Ben Surfin assisted on a par of goals.

Gettysburg out-shot F&M 35-20. Dan Coffman (Annapolis, MD / Severn School) stopped eight shots in the Diplomats' cage.

The Bullets held decisive advantages in faceoffs (15-7) and ground balls (33-22) as well.
