HAVERFORD, Pa. -
Franklin & Marshall's baseball team is back at .500 for the first time since falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps back on the ides of March. The Diplomats took their fifth-straight game, a 10-7 decision at Haverford on Tuesday to improve to 9-9 on the season and 4-1 in Centennial Conference play.
Diplomats' starter Dan Tischler (2-3) picked up the win having allowed five earned runs of the Fords' (13-6-1, 3-2 CC) seven scored. He struck out five batters on the day.
Trailing 10-5 heading into the seventh, Haverford got a spark from an F&M miscue when Lagonsky reached on a leadoff error. He came in on a Steve Andelman single. Andelman was knocked in by a Bobby Bailey single into centerfield after a Charlie Carliuccio single. Nick Markel was brought on to work Tischler out of the jam. He did just that, freezing Will Stafford for a called third strike to end Haverford's best shot at a comeback with two-runners on.
Matthew Metsch and Matt Kalos each worked an inning of relief. Neither allowed a hit or a run and Kalos earned his first save of the season.
Eight of F&M's nine startes recorded at least a hit in the game. Jason Anderson went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Patrick O'Reilly went 3-for-5 with a home run amongst his two runs scored and two runs driven in. Shea Moriarty was 3-for-5 scoring three times and Mark Minutaglio went 2-for-5 with a home run and and two RBIs.
The Diplomats return to action at Caplan Field on Friday against Haverford.
