Franklin & Marshall posted a pair of shut outs on Saturday, defeating Dickinson 10-0 and 17-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) double-header on Saturday. The pair of shutouts gives F&M (15-10, 10-2 CC) a streak of three games holding the opposition scoreless. F&M has shut out four of its last five opponents, outscoring the opposition 59-4 in that stretch of 43 innings.
Matt Kalos tossed his second consecutive two-hit, complete game to move to 3-1 on the season. He struck out four collecting the 10-0 win in the seven inning opener. Brad Andres (3-2) threw the first seven and two-thirds of the nightcap, scattering four hits and striking out eight Dickinson (8-18, 3-7 CC) batters. Nick Markel closed out game two without allowing a hit.
12 different players combined for 17 hits in game two. Rich Gallugi was 3-for-4 with a runs scored and a RBI. Andrew Hanson, Patrick O'Reilly, Bill Murray, and Tom Miller each picked up a pair of hits. O'Reilly and Murray each drove in two runs and scored once. Miller scored twice and drove one run in. Shea Moriarty crossed three times. The Diplomats blew the second game open with an eight-run third in which 13 F&M batters appeared.
F&M led 4-0 heading into the final inning of the first game, but squelched any hopes of a Dickinson rally by posting six runs in the top of the seventh. In his second plate appearance of the inning, Gordon Pellegrini plated a pair of runs.
Five different players recorded multiple hits with Jason Anderson posting a 3-for-4 effort with three RBIs. Hanson, Moriarty, O'Reilly, and Matt Donahue each picked up a pair of hits with all but Hanson driving a run in. Hanson scored twice.
The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday at Gettysburg. F&M was slated to play Elizabethtown on Sunday, however, their Saturday conference game with Lebanon Valley was postponed to Sunday.
