YORK, Pa. -
Franklin & Marshall scored five runs in the first, only to fade away in a 10-8 loss at York in the final non-conference game on the Diplomats' (18-13) slate this season.
F&M freshman Eric Bornstein drove in the final two runs in the wild top half of the first inning. His shot through the left side of the Spartans' (11-24) defense plated Tom Miller and Bill Murray, both of whom reached with two outs on the board. Murray reached on the second York error of the inning.
The Spartans wasted little time in chipping away at F&M's early lead. Mike Santoro scoring a pair of baserunners after York's leadoff batter Rob Klinck had already crossed, making it 5-3.

The Diplomats' lead began to unravel in the fourth and fell apart altogether beofre the middle three innings were completed.
C.T. Stanley hit a one-out home run to leftfield in the fourth. His shot was a harbinger of things to come. Kyle Cook walked aborad, stole second and made his way to third on an errant throw. He came across when Klinck reached on an error to make it 6-5.
Santoro doubled to lead off the fifth, followed by a Ryan Craig single, setting the table for Stanley. He added two more RBI's to his total with a single into centerfield that gave York its first lead of the day, 7-6. One more run crossed before the inning ended giving York an insurmountable 8-6 lead.
F&M got one back in the sixth when Mark Minutaglio doubled to right to score Bornstein who had reached on his second hit of the day. The Diplomats' freshman finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs and the run that made it 8-7. York responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to hold F&M at bay.
Stanley's two hits yielded three RBI's and a run, while Santoro and Young each plated a pair for the Spartans. F&M's Shea Moriarty extended his hitting streak to 12 games, leaving him one short of Jason Anderson's season-high 13-game streak pieced together earlier this season.
