Diplomats Batter Shoremen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Andrew Hanson went 5-for-5 with four doubles, four runs scored, a pair of stolen bases and as many RBIs to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 15-4 win at Washington on Wednesday. Hanson was one of five Diplomats (12-10, 7-2 CC) to record multiple hits. The other four picked up a pair of hits apiece.

F&M blew the game open with seven runs over the fourth and fifth innings. Hanson doubled into leftfield to score the inning's leadoff batter, Gordon Pellegrini. After stealing his way to third, Hanson scored on a Matt Donahue triple to make it 4-0 and chase the Shoremen (5-10, 1-5 CC) starter.

Hanson hits his lone single in the fifth scoring that inning's leadoff batter, Bill Murray. He stole another base and then scored when Donahue reached on an error.

The Diplomats jumped on the Shoremen early posting a single run in the first and third. Shea Moriarty posted the first of his two hits with one out in the game. He came home on the first of Jason Anderson's pair of hits. It was the first of Anderson's three RBIs in the game. Moriarty scored again in the third on a Patrick O'Reilly sacrifice fly.

Moriarty, Eric Bornstein, Anderson, and Pellegrini each had two hits. In addition to his three RBIs, Anderson drew a walk. Bornstein knocked in a pair of runs and scored once. Nick Rolnick posted two RBIs in the game.

Dan Tischler improved his record to 3-3 on the season having worked seven innings. He allowed all four Washington runs on eight hits while striking out five. Mike Duranti pitched the final two innings. He allowed three hits and held Washington scoreless.

The Diplomats return to action on Friday against Washington.
