CAMDEN, N.J. - Rowan's two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth,
lifted the Owls to a 3-2 victory over Franklin & Marshall in a
non-conference baseball game Saturday afternoon. The
Diplomats drop to 0-2 on the year, while Rowan improved to 3-2.
With the score at tied at two, Sean Bowen knocked a two out
double to center field. He was replaced by pinch runner Mike Scott
at second. Marc Magliaro, singled past the shortstop in the next
at-bat, scoring Scott from second for the Owl's victory.
Rowan went ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Matt
Citro was hit by a pitch to start the frame and stole second. He
moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Scott Weaver singled past
second base in the next at-bat, plating Citro.
Matt Will got things started in the third frame. Will singled
down the right field line and advanced to second on a J.T.
Triantos' single. Jay Anderson singled in the next at-bat,
plating Will and tying the game at 1-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, Triantos led off with a double
to right field. He moved to third on a wild pitch. Anderson's
sacrifice fly to left field brought Triantos home to give F&M a
2-1 advantage.
In the bottom half of the sixth, Weaver was hit by a pitch to
start the side. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and took
third on an error. Matt Johanson grounded out to the shortstop, two
batters later, driving in Weaver, making it a 2-2 ballgame.
Anderson led the way for F&M hitting 2-for-3 and driving in
both of the Diplomats runs. Triantos and Will picked up two hits
apiece, and each scored a run. Triantos was 2-for-3, while Will hit
2-for-4.
Mike Duranti started on the mound for the Diplomats. Duranti
pitched seven full innings allowing only one earned run. He walked
a batter and gave up four hits in the contest.
The Diplomats return to the diamond tomorrow to take on
Rutgers-Camden. First pitched is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
