BROOKLANDVILLE, Md. – Kevin Kilpatrick took a feed from Colin McKew and deposited a shot with 2:27 left in the game to lift Franklin & Marshall to a 12-11 win over Washington & Lee Saturday. Kilpatrick's goal capped a 3-0 scoring run that stared with F&M trailing 11-10 with 12:47 left in the game. The Diplomats improved to 4-1 while W&L fell to 4-2.

The game-winning goal was set up after Wenk put the Diplomats within one, 11-10, and Kilpatrick netted the equalizer with 5:41 left in the game. Both teams traded turnovers after Andrew Setian won the faceoff for F&M. James Wenk's shot was blocked and W&L cleared the ball. Scott Beury forced a turnover and Keith Murray's shot was wide, but was backed up, before the McKew to Kilpatrick hook up.

The Diplomats built a 5-3 lead in the first quarter with scores from Andrew Setian, Freddy Schweizer, Billy Kempner, Tristan Miller and James Wenk. F&M extended the lead to 6-3 on Sean Kenny's goal before W&L hit two straight to close the gap to 6-5 at halftime.

McKew found Miller to start the third before W&L answered with a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead with 9:55 left in the third. McKew found Kempner twice to even the game at 9-9 at the end of the third. W&L tacked on two straight to start the fourth to lead 11-9, with 14:08 left, setting up the final run by F&M.

W&L was led in scoring by Scott Meehan and Cameron Dabir who each scored three times. Kempner paced the Diplomats with three and McKew had a game-high five assists. Jordan Barr and Kempner finished with an assist each. 

The Diplomats outshot W&L 40-28 and scooped five more ground balls, 41-36. Setian won 19 of 27 faceoffs, which resulted in 13 ground balls. 

F&M returns to action Wednesday at Susquehanna at 3 p.m.
