CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Franklin & Marshall fell 11-8 to Washington in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 7-2 (2-1 CC) while the Shoremen improved 6-2 (3-0 CC).

Washington tallied goals 30 seconds apart, almost four minutes into the game, to take an early 2-0 lead and added another score at 3:34 to go up 3-0. F&M answered a minute into the second quarter when Kevin Kilpatrick scored unassisted and then found Tristan Miller 2:50 later to bring the Diplomats within a goal, 3-2, with 11:10 left to the break.  Washington countered with back-to-back scores to go into halftime with a 5-2 edge. 

Billy Kempner struck twice in a 3:34 span to start the third and brought F&M within a goal, 5-4, at 11:26. Colin McKew assisted on the first goal and Matt Gillan found Kempner for the second.  Washington responded with two straight goals to go up 7-4, before James Wenk and Jordan Barr hooked up for back-to-back scored to bring F&M within a point, 7-6, with 13:39 left in the game. 

Bennett Cord put the Shoremen up 8-6 at 10:24, but McKew found Wenk a little under a minute later to make it 8-7. That was as close as the Diplomats would get as Washington scored three of the games' last four goals. 

Miller, Barr and Kempner each finished with two goals apiece while Gillan, McKew and Wenk all dished out two assists. 

Andrew Setian was 11-for-23 from the X with five groundballs and Kempner collected four groundballs for the Diplomats. 

Cameron Setian picked up nine saves in the loss and fell to 7-2. Peter Stewart earned the win in goal for Washington with 11 saves. 

F&M returns to action next Saturday when the Diplomats host McDaniel at 4:00 p.m.
