LYNCHBURG, Pa. - No. 8 Franklin & Marshall remained unbeaten with a 2-1 victory over Roanoke to conclude the Shellenberger Memorial Classic on Sunday. The Diplomats move to 4-0 with the win, while the Maroons fall to 2-2.

F&M bombarded the Maroons with shots early on, registering the first eight strikes of the contest that culminated in a Sam Lane header in the 21st minute. Lane headed home a feed from Ryan O'Connell for his second score of the year to give the Diplomats a 1-0 advantage.

Roanoke evened things up just before halftime on just its second shot of the game. Garrett Eldridge sent a corner kick into the box that was headed in by Dionys Beck to square up the game at 1-1.

Over 35 minutes of scoreless action ensued, until the Diplomats delivered the winning score in the 81st minute of play. A day after recording the decisive assist to Ben Beaver in F&M's 3-2 overtime triumph over Lynchburg, Lane was again on the front end of a winning F&M score. The sophomore this time fed classmate Jared Bomba, who tallied his first goal of the season to give the Diplomats the win.

F&M outshot the Maroons by a decisive 17-6 count, while also holding a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

T.J. White tallied two saves in the entire 90 minutes in net for the Diplomats, while Roanoke's Will Dooley totaled four stops in the loss.

The eighth-ranked Diplomats return to action on Wednesday at Elizabethtown in the annual Smith-Herr Boot Game at 7:00 p.m.
