F&M Falls to No. 3 Hopkins

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall dropped its season opener 180-77 to third-ranked Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon in men's swimming action. The Diplomats fall to 0-1 while the Blue Jays improved to 1-0 this season.

John Zipp had the best showing for the Diplomats with a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.56 while Jin Hwang took fourth in the event at 22.84. Zipp added a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 49.36.

Andreas Lair Ferrari turned in a 2:02.57 in the 200-yard backstroke for a third place finish for the Diplomats.

Johns Hopkins swam exhibition in the final two events of the meet. Patrick Greaney came away with first place points in the 200-yard IM with the fourth fastest time at 2:09.36 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team came away with first place points with the third fastest time of 1:31.23. The team included Dennis Chen, Ian Swindell, Hwang and Zipp.

F&M returns to action on Nov. 9 when the Diplomats host Swarthmore at 2:00 p.m.
