Series History: Franklin & Marshall (8-2-1, 2-2 CC) hits the road this week for a pair of away contests. The Diplomats open the week with a non-conference matchup at DeSales (7-5) on Wednesday, before traveling to CC rival Johns Hopkins (4-6-1, 2-2 CC) on Saturday.

The Diplomats will look to extend their three-game winning streak against DeSales. F&M took down the Bulldogs 3-1 on Oct. 2 of last season and leads the overall series 4-1. The Diplomats and Hopkins will meet for the 66th time on Saturday, with JHU holding a 40-20-5 edge. F&M will be looking for a bit of revenge against the Blue Jays, as they knocked the Diplomats out of the CC playoffs with a 2-1 overtime triumph last fall.

Last Week: F&M posted a 1-1 mark last week in CC action, falling to Ursinus 2-1 in overtime in heartbreaking fashion, before bouncing back with a 2-1 triumph over McDaniel.

On Wednesday against Ursinus, the Diplomats controlled the pace of play for much of the contest but fell just short of victory. F&M took a 1-0 lead late in the first half on Vince Perry's header off a corner kick from Same Lane. The Bears buried a penalty kick opportunity late in regulation to send the contest to overtime, and tallied the game-winner midway through the first overtime period.

Against McDaniel on Saturday, the Diplomats found themselves facing a 1-0 deficit early on in the second half, but bounced back to nab the 2-1 triumph. Ben Beaver tallied his team-leading eighth goal of the season to tie the contest, while Jared Bomba notched his second game-winner of the year in the 83rd minute to propel F&M to the win.

Among the Elite: As a team, the Diplomats rank third in the nation in shutout percentage (0.73) and fourth in team goals against average (0.35), while goalkeeper T.J. White ranks eighth in goals against average (0.351).

Record Book Watch: Ben Beaver's goal against McDaniel last Saturday moved him into a second-place tie on the all-time goal-scoring list with 40 career goals. Beaver is now tied with Anthony Vattilana '92 for second, sitting just four shy of Scott Runyon (44).

In the Rankings: The Diplomats dropped from No. 15 to No. 23 in the D3soccer.com poll. In the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Rankings, F&M dropped out of the rankings.
