Diplomats Defeat Lords

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall defeated Kenyon 11-7 in non-conference men's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Tylus Field. 10 different players scored for F&M as the Diplomats improved to 2-1 while Lords fell to 1-4.

Kenyon lit the scoreboard first with a goal at 12:48 in the first quarter and the Diplomats answered on their next possession when Zachary Johannes struck to make it 1-1. The brothers Gamble connected four minutes later when Philip Gamble found Chad Gamble and Billy Kempner found twine at 5:25 to put F&M 3-1.

The Lords countered with four unanswered goals spanning over 11 minutes and took a 5-3 edge at 7:28 in the second quarter. F&M answered and finished the half strong with four straight goals and went into the break leading 7-5. James King started the run with a score at 7:22 and Michael Bossidy found Sean Kenny at 5:30 to tie the game at 5-5. A.J. Reichert and T.J. Tynan tallied goals seconds apart to give F&M the advantage for good. 

F&M continued its run in the second half with two unanswered goals to start the third quarter. Kempner picked up his second score three minutes into the quarter before Brendan Kenavan found the net at 10:57 to give F&M a 9-5 edge. 

Phil Alimam got one through for Kenyon early in the fourth, but F&M countered with two straight to make it 11-6. Tommy Wenk took a feed from Kempner and shot behind his back at 10:18 and Philip Gamble found Ben Ross for the second score before the Lords managed one with 3:28 left to play.

Tynan won 9-of-19 faceoffs and picked up four groundballs with Carlos Pelaez and Kempner ending with three groundballs apiece. 

Cameron Setian had five saves and improved to 2-1 while Fletcher Franklin took the loss.

F&M outshot Kenyon 42-20 and picked up 25 groundballs to the Lords' 18.

The Diplomats returns to action on Saturday when F&M travels to Washington & Lee for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
