Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. – No. 2 Dickinson defeated Franklin & Marshall 16-2 in the Centennial Conference (CC) Men's Lacrosse Championship Saturday afternoon. F&M fell to 11-6 this season while the Red Devils improved their mark to 17-0 and became the first team to go undefeated in CC action.
Dickinson earned the CC's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament and the Diplomats will have to wait and see if they can receive an at-large bid. The selection show will air tomorrow evening at 10:00 p.m. on NCAA.com.
The game started out in a defensive battle with 12 turnovers and Dickinson holding onto a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. That was as close as F&M would get as the Red Devils kicked into another gear in the second quarter with four unanswered goals and took a 5-0 lead at the break.
Dickinson continued its run with six goals in the first 6:34 of the third quarter. The Red Devils used a combination of excellent defense, limiting F&M to just two shots, and precision shooting to take an 11-0 lead to the final frame.
Brian Cannon put Dickinson up 12-0 before F&M put its first point on the board off an unassisted tally by A.J. Reichert. The Red Devils rattled off four more for a 16-1 advantage, but Reichert netted another unassisted tally with 1:39 left to make it 16-2.
Carlos Pelaez caused three turnovers and scooped up eight ground balls to lead the F&M defense.
Cameron Setian took the loss with seven saves and fell 11-6 while Greg Hanley picked up the win with 15 saves.
