Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. – Franklin & Marshall knocked off its second straight ranked opponent with a 1-0 victory over No. 24 Oneonta St. on Saturday at the Mayor's Cup Tournament. The Diplomats remain unbeaten at 4-0 with the victory, while the Red Dragons fall to 1-2.
Several Diplomats received all-tournament recognition for their performance throughout the 2-0 weekend. Ben Beaver, T.J. White, David Rosenfeld, and Zach Fried were named to the all-tournament team, while Beaver and White earned offensive and defensive MVP honors, respectively.
A day after defeating No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in convincing fashion, the Diplomats proved themselves against a tough opponent once again this season with a low-scoring triumph over the host Red Dragons.
The lone score of the contest came in 22nd minute of play as Chase TenBrook found Fried at the top of the 18-yard box, and Fried delivered a strike into the upper-left corner of the goal to give the Diplomats a 1-0 edge that they wouldn't relinquish.
White (4-0) posted his fourth straight shutout in net to begin the year, tallying two saves in the win. Oneonta St. goalkeeper Vincent Pellegrino (0-1) notched three saves in a losing effort.
The Red Dragons held a slight advantage in both shots (6-5) and corner kicks (3-2) on the afternoon.
The Diplomats return home on Friday to take on Elizabethtown in the annual Smith-Herr Boot Game at 4:30 p.m.
