SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women swimming team earned 10 first place victories en route to a 147-115 victory in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The win propelled the Diplomat's record to 5-1, while the Crusader's dropped to 4-3.
Katherine Grant touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 10:59.92. Alexia Tomlinson placed second with a time of 11:03.79, while Mary Ann Robison finished fourth at 11:23.11. In the following event, the 200-yard freestyle, Grant placed first again with a time of 1:59.39, while Rebecca Daen touched second at 2:00.51.
In the 100-yard backstroke, F&M's Courtney Collins earned a first-place victory with a time of 1:03.46. Maggie Johns touched first in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:18.55, while Tomlinson (2:25.08) finished in third-place.
The Diplomats continued an impressive day when Jillian Albus won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.15. In the next event, the 100-yard freestyle, Daen touched first with a time of 56.16.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Collins earned a first-place victory at 2:16.22, while Taylor Mateja placed fourth with a time of 2:21.56.
Grant earned her third first-place victory in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:22.25, while Tomlinson touched second with a time of 5:29.48. In the following event, the 100-yard butterfly, Albus placed first for F&M at 1:01.26, while Johns finished fourth with a time of 1:05.20.
Johns earned the Diplomats' 10th first-place victory in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:51.01, while Caitlyn Fuller finished third at 5:03.05.
Finally, a team of Collins, Erin Smith, Albus, and Daen finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.82.
F&M returns to the pool on Friday when the Diplomats travel to Westminster to battle McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The meet is scheduled is start at 6:00 p.m.
