LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team closed out its regular season with a 9-0 loss to No. 11 George Washington on Friday evening at the Mayser Center. The defeat dropped the Diplomats' record to 7-12 on the year, while the Colonials improved to 9-5.
George Washington earned sweeps in all nine matchups of the contest. Molly Gilmore (No. 9) was the closest F&M player to capture a game, falling 11-9 in the second stanza of an 11-4, 11-9, 11-2 defeat. Emily Caldwell was overpowered in her first game at No. 1, dropping an 11-2 score, but battled in her finals two games at 11-7, 11-6.
Roxanna Mead also played tough at No. 2 but was ultimately unable to pick up a game en route to the 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 shutout. Kate O'Brien also played in a number of competitive games at No. 3 but fell 11-7, 11-5, 11-2.
The Diplomats return to action on Feb. 21 to compete at the CSA Team Championships hosted by Princeton.
