LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team competed in the Little Three Meet yesterday at Sponaugle-Williamson Field. With the cancellation of the pole vault event, here are the final team scores: Dickinson 150 points, Gettysburg 119.50, and F&M has 92.50. The results from Saturday's meet were not made available until Sunday morning.
Originally called the Triple Alliance, the Little Three Meet began in 1977 for the women and this was the 36th time it was held.
For the day, Samantha Walmer, Morgan Gray, and Maya Jackson recorded top placings to lead the way for F&M. Walmer crossed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.14, and then earned points for the Diplomats with a third-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:16.09.
Gray placed second in the long jump with a distance of 4.73 meters (15'-06.25") and earned a first-place victory in the triple jump at 10.61 meters (34'-09.75"). Rachel Umberger finished third in the high jump at 1.47 meters (4'-09.75").
Maya Jackson took first in the shot put with a mark of 11.43 meters, and also claimed the top spot in the discus (34.70 meters or 113'-10") and the javelin throw (33.50 meters or 109'-11").
In the 200-meter dash, Samantha Greenburg placed fourth for F&M at 27.83, while Kimberly Hilfrank earned a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.86.
Mallory Reed placed fifth in the 1500-meter run at 5:11.42, while Carol Dorey-Stein crossed fifth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:14.79.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M will compete at the Millersville Metrics.
