Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall fell 9-8 to Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 7-9, 4-4 CC while the Red Devils clinched the final CC Playoff spot and improved to 7-8, 5-3 CC.
Dickinson struck first with a score late in the first quarter before Sean Rogers found Michael Bossidy early in the second to tie the game at 1-1. The Red Devils made it 2-1 five minutes later and F&M answered with three straight to go up 4-2. Bossidy found Rogers to start the run and Rogers netted an unassisted score two minutes later.
Bossidy finished off a pass from Philip Gamble to put the Diplomats up 4-2 and the Red Devils answered seven seconds later and came within a goal. Bossidy fed John Barney with a little over two minutes left in the half to give F&M a 5-3 lead at the break.
Chad Gamble connected with Ben Ross early in the third to put F&M up 6-3, but the Red Devils countered with three goals and tied the game at 6-6 early in the fourth. Barney put the Diplomats back on top at 8:04 in the fourth and Dickinson responded with a 3-0 run in a one-minute span to take the lead for good. Sean Brown struck unassisted with 4:44 left, but the Diplomats were unable to find the net the remainder of the game.
Bossidy finished with two goals and two assists while Rogers and Barney also finished with a pair of goals. Rogers added an assist along with the Gambles.
Nicholas Zenobio paced the defense with three caused turnovers and four ground balls while Chad Gamble added three ground balls with three caused turnovers.
Timothy Mattessich took the loss with 13 stops while Nick Baxter picked up the win with five saves.
F&M held a 19-15 edge in ground balls and went 21-for-24 in clear attempts.
