Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Michael Bossidy scored four goals to lead Franklin & Marshall to a convincing 13-8 win over Scranton Tuesday evening in men's lacrosse action. The win is the 16th straight over the Royals for F&M as the Diplomats improved to 5-6 while Scranton dropped to 7-6.
F&M waste little time taking control of the game with two goals in the first 2:35 of action. Bossidy found Chad Gamble for the first score at 13:56 and scored the second goal of a feed from Sean Rogers for the early 2-0 lead. Rogers made it 3-0 when he netted a pass from John Barney and Wes Rhudy put F&M out in front 4-0 off a pass from Sean Brown.
Bossidy took over and scored four goals in six minutes of action. Philip Gamble and Teddy Bossidy assisted on two of the goals and Rogers fed Bossidy on the middle two scores of the run. Rogers connected with Teddy Bossidy at 11:58 to give F&M a 9-0 lead before the Royals finally put one through at 7:23.
Jack Gladstone struck unassisted at 2:16 to give the Diplomats a 10-1 lead heading into the break. Philip Gamble put the first points on the board in the third, before Scranton rattled off four straight to make it 11-5 at 7:59 in the fourth. Read Zeigler stop the Royals' run with a score at 6:07 and Mike Wasik found Gladstone at 3:42 for a 13-5 F&M lead. The Royals ended the game with three unanswered on F&M's reserves to make it 13-8 at the final whistle.
Michael Bossidy finished with four goals and an assist while Rogers scored once and ended with four helpers. Chad Gamble and Gladstone scored twice for the Diplomats, Philip Gamble had a score and an assist and Zeigler, Teddy Bossidy along with Rhudy each scored once. John Barney finished with an assist along with Wasik and Brown.
Connor Melillo caused two turnovers and collected five ground balls to pace the defense and Anthony Dougherty finished with four ground balls.
Timothy Mattessich (5-6) picked up the win in 30 minutes of action as he allowed just one goal and turned away five shots. Nicholas McKaba took the loss with seven saves and dropped to 7-6.
F&M outshot Scranton 37-29, held a 30-27 edge in ground balls and went 15-for-18 in clear attempts.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M travels to Swarthmore for a 1:00 p.m. game.
