Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall scored seven unanswered goals in the second half en route to a 16-9 victory over Kenyon in men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field. The win is the fourth straight for F&M as the Diplomats improved 4-2 while Lords dropped to 3-1.
Tied at 6-6 at halftime, F&M hit another gear in the third quarter and scored seven goals in first 19 minutes of the second half to take the lead for good. Mike Wasik, Sean Rogers, Christopher Casey and Harry Rice all tallied unassisted goals to start the run. Rogers found Rama at 1:02 in the third to make it 11-6 and Rama returned the favor with an assist to Rogers with 37 ticks left in the third.
Rogers assisted Rama again early in the fourth for a 13-6 F&M lead before the Lords stopped the run with a tally at 10:31. Read Ziegler connected with Wes Rhudy at 8:55 and Kenyon scored two straight to make it 14-9 with 6:38 left in the game. Michael Bossidy fed Jack Gladstone at 4:52 and Rogers picked up his fourth assists with a pass to Bossidy, who netted the final score of the game for F&M at 4:24.
Rogers put the first points on the board with a goal a little over three minutes into the contest. Kenyon made it 1-1 at 7:30 and the Diplomats answered 15 seconds later when Read Zeigler scored to put F&M up 2-1. The Lords made it 2-2 late in the first before the Diplomats went on a 3-0 run to take a 5-2 lead early in the second. Rhudy, Rama and Rogers scored the three goals for F&M with Mike Sanzone assisting on Rhudy's score.
Kenyon responded by scoring four straight in a five-minute span to take a 6-5 edge. The Diplomats countered two minutes later when Rama finished off a pass from Rogers to make it 6-6, sitting up game-clinching run in the third quarter.
Rogers finished with four goals, four assists and five ground balls to lead the Diplomats. Rama had four scores of his own with one assist while Rhudy finished with two scores. Bossidy and Zeigler both finished with a goal and an assist and Casey, Wasik along with Rice all struck once.
Sanzone went 20-of-28 from the X and collected 13 ground balls.
Thomas Moore improved to 4-2 with 15 saves while Patrick Shevelson took the loss with 16 stops.
F&M outshot Kenyon 46-40, held a 31-24 edge in ground balls and went 16-for-18 in clear attempts.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M hosts Lebanon Valley at 4:00 p.m.
