Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Mike Rama scored two goals and handed out two assists to help lead Franklin & Marshall to a 13-7 victory over visiting Scranton on Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats picked up their sixth-straight win and improved to 6-2 while the Royals fell to 7-2.
After conceding the opening goal, F&M dominated the first quarter outshooting the Royals by a 14-2 margin. The Diplomats got goals from Michael Bossidy, Sean Rogers and Mike Wasik within the quarter with Tucker McBride and George Briggs assisting on the first two scores.
Scranton cut the deficit to 3-2 with 12:09 left in the second, but that was the closest the Royals came of regaining the lead as a Brendan Kenavan goal capped off a 4-0 run that gave F&M the 7-2 halftime lead. Teddy Bossidy found Rama to start off the run, before Kenavan assisted Rama and Rogers for the middle two scores of the run.
The Royals struck first in the second half with two goals in the opening minutes of the third. However, a three goals from Michal Bossidy spearheaded a 6-0 surge from the Diplomats that gave them the 13-5 lead. Riley Aviles, Briggs and Wasik had the other three scores in the run.
Scranton scored the final three goals of the game to account for the final margin of the 13-7 win.
Anthony Dougherty, Tommy O'Connor and John Sommi all caused two turnovers to pace the defense while Rogers and Thomas Moore led the way with three ground balls each.
Thomas Moore picked up the victory between the pipes for the Diplomats with seven saves. Nicholas McKaba (7-2) took the loss for Scranton and recorded 11 saves.
F&M was outstanding in it's defensive zone, forcing 14 turnovers and went 15-of-16 in clear attempts. The Diplomats held a 17-13 advantage in groundballs and held a 36-30 edge in shots.
The Diplomats are slated to begin Centennial Conference play on Saturday, March 26 when F&M travels to Muhlenberg. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
