Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus defeated Franklin & Marshall 15-5 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Wednesday evening at Tylus Field. The Diplomats dropped to 7-3, 1-1 CC while the Bears improved to 7-1, 2-0 CC.
The Bears started out strong and tallied the first four goals of the game for the earlier edge. Michael Bossidy found Harry Rice at 9:03 in the first to make it 4-1, but Ursinus answered with two straight and took a 6-1 lead with 5:35 left in the first quarter. Mike Wasik struck unassisted to bring F&M within four, 6-2, but the Bears responded with six straight and took a 12-2 lead into the break.
Rice put the first points on the board in the second half at 8:37 in the third quarter to kick off a 3-0 F&M run. Sean Rogers found George Briggs early in the fourth for the second score and Riley Aviles fed Bossidy at 9:45 to make it 12-5. Ursinus countered with three unanswered to end the game.
Bossidy finished with a goal and an assist and Rice struck twice. Wasik and Briggs both tallied goals while Rogers ended with an assist.
Wes Rhudy and Anthony Dougherty both caused two turnovers to pace the defense.
Thomas Moore took the loss and dropped 7-3, but Scott Hatch turned away eight shots in relief and kept the Bears off the board for over 25 minutes. Brian Neff picked up the win with eight saves.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Washington for a 1:00 p.m. game.
