Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Sean Rogers scored twice in the final minute to help deliver Franklin & Marshall a 12-10 victory over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) action Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field in the regular season finale. The Diplomats improved 12-4, 6-2 CC while the Red Devils fell to 8-7, 3-5 CC.
Seniors Michael Bossidy, Sean Brown, Jack Gladstone, Brendan Kenavan, A.J. Koikoi, Eamonn O'Shea, George Raum, Wes Rhudy, Mike Sanzone, Tham Tironsakkul were honored before the game. The class of 2016 has amassed a 43-24 mark over the last four seasons, which is the best four-year record in program history.
Dickinson jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the first two minutes of action. The Diplomats countered with three straight and took a 3-2 lead with 6:01 left in the first quarter. Mike Wasik started the run with an unassisted goal at 12:22 and Sean Rogers found Michael Bossidy at 6:03 to tie the game at 2-2. Mike Sanzone won the ensuing faceoff and raced down the field and found the back of the net for the 3-2 F&M advantage.
The Red Devils opened the second with two straight and took a 4-3 edge at 10:12 in the second frame. Wasik answered with his second score at 5:28 to tie the game at 4-4 and Mike Rama found Bossidy with 2:41 left to give F&M a 5-4 lead at the break.
Dickinson tied the game early in the third with a goal one minute into the second half. Brendan Kenavan put the Diplomats back up a point with a point at 8:48 and the Red Devils countered with a score at 5:51 and tied the game at 6-6. Wasik put the Diplomats back up a goal, 6-5, with his third tally of the game with just 15 ticks on the clock.
F&M went up two goals, 8-6, when Bossidy connected with Kenavan a little over a minute into the fourth. Riley Aviles fired a shot in the back of the net for a 9-6 F&M advantage, but Dickinson came right back with a goal 27 seconds later to come within two. Harry Rice put the Diplomat back up three, 10-7, before the Red Devils countered with three straight and tied the game at 10-10.
Rogers final two came with under a minute left when he scored off a pass from George Briggs with 58 seconds left. After a timeout, the Diplomats caught Dickinson in a personnel change and Rogers took advantage after shooting the ball into an empty net to secure the win.
Nick Zenobio and Tommy O'Connor both had three caused turnovers to pace the denfense while Zenobio finsihed with six ground balls and Anthony Dougherty recorded three ground balls for the Diplomats.
Scott Hatch improved to 3-1 with nine stops in goal and Nick Baxter took the loss after turning away 11 shots.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M travels to Ursinus for the CC Semifinals. Game time will be determined on Monday afternoon.
