Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall fell 15-12 to Ursinus in the 2016 Centennial Conference (CC) Semifinals Wednesday evening. The Diplomats dropped to 12-5 while the Bears improved to 14-2 and will face Gettysburg on Saturday in the CC Finals.
Ursinus went up 1-0 early in the game before Sean Rogers found Mike Wasik at 11:12 to tie the game at 1-1. The Bears netted two straight for a 3-1 edge and Wasik and Rogers connected again to make it 3-2. The Bears struck with 2:41 left in the first to go up 4-2 heading into the second.
F&M tallied two early in the second to kick off a 6-2 run. Harry Rice netted an unassisted score at 13:49 and Rogers fed Michael Bossidy at 8:41 to tie the game at 4-4. Ursinus went back up a goal, but F&M countered with four unanswered and took an 8-5 advantage into the break. Rogers found Rama at 5:26 before Wasik and Riley Aviles netted back-to-back scores for a 7-5 F&M lead. Rogers and Bossidy hooked up again with just 21 ticks on the clock for the 8-5 lead at halftime.
The Bears hit another gear in the third by outscoring F&M 7-1 to take the lead for good. Ursinus made it seven straight with a score early in the fourth before Mike Rama buried a pass from Rogers at 7:27 to bring F&M within three, 13-10. The Bears went up 14-10 and Rice found Bossidy at the five-minute mark for a 14-11 score. Logan Panaccione put one more on the board for Ursinus and Rogers buried a pass from Bossidy for the final score of the game.
Rogers led all players with seven assists and one score and increased his career total to 109 points. Bossidy finished with four goals and one helper and became just the 11th player in program history to net 100 or more goals. Wasik had three scores while Rama netted two and Rice finished with a goal and an assist.
Wes Rhudy caused three turnovers and collected four ground balls and Nick Zenobio finished with two caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Scott Hatch dropped to 3-2 with eight saves and Brian Neff picked up the win with nine stops.
F&M held a 29-26 edge in ground balls, went 18-for-21 in clear attempts and went 3-for-3 in man-up opportunities.
