F&M Eases Past Fords

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sean Rogers and Kevin Mollihan both finished with a hat trick to lead Franklin & Marshall to an 11-3 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 7-2, 3-0 CC while the Fords fell to 6-4, 2-1 CC. 

F&M owned the first quarter and jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. Mike Rama found Rogers for the first score and Mollihan made it 2-0 at 13:33. Rogers struck again off a pass from George Briggs, before Mollihan tacked on two more to end the quarter off feeds from Tucker McBride and Rama.

Harry Rice made it 6-0 with a score at 8:20 in the second and Rama and Rogers hooked up again at 5:54 for a 7-0 F&M lead. The Fords countered with two straight to make it 7-2 at the break. Shane McBride finished off a pass from Briggs at 11:31 and the Fords matched with 44 ticks on the clock to make it 8-3 at the end of the third.

The Diplomats opened the final frame with three straight and an 11-3 lead. Rogers found Read Zeigler for the first tally; Harry Rice found the net at 10:54 and John Sommi fed Rama at 9:31 for the final score of the game.

Rogers finished with three goals and one assist and Mollihan netted three scores. Rice had two scores and Rama ended with a goal and three assists. Shane McBride and Ziegler both struck once and Sommi added an assist for the Diplomats.

Ellis Llewellyn led the defense with three caused turnovers and five ground balls, while Drew DeBacco, along with Anthony Dougherty, finished with two caused turnovers each.  

Andrew Rose went 12-for-17 from the X and ended with three ground balls.

Scott Hatch picked up the win with six stops and improved to 7-2 while Dylan Slack took the loss with 10 saves. 

F&M held a slight 32-29 edge in shots, led 37-28 in ground balls and went 17-for-19 in clear attempts.

The Diplomats return to action on Monday when F&M travels to LVC for a 7:00 p.m. game.
