F&M Cruises Past McDaniel

WESTMINISTER, Md. -- Franklin & Marshall got the job done with a 19-9 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Wednesday evening. The Diplomats improved to 9-3, 4-0 CC with the win, while the Green Terror fell to 2-11, 0-5 CC.

After an early goal by the Green Terror, F&M netted three straight for a 3-1 edge at 9:53 in the first. McDaniel made with 3-2 at 5:40, and the Diplomats closed out the quarter with two straight for a 5-2 lead heading into the second.

McDaniel came within two early in the second, before a pair of goals by F&M made it 7-4. The teams traded goals during the middle part of the second and the Diplomats ended the quarter with two goals and took a 10-6 at the break.

F&M continued their run in the third with three straight and McDaniel answered by closing out the quarter on a 2-0 spurt for a 13-8 heading into the final frame. The Green Terror came within four, 13-9, early in the fourth, but the Diplomats finished strong by closing out the game with six unanswered goals.

Kevin Mollihan led the way offensively with four goals and three helpers, Luke Keating had three scores with four assists and Blake Target found the net four times. A.J. Rigsby scored four goals, while Shane McBride, Jarrett Donaghy, Andrew Towne, and Rob Baxter all netted a goal. George Briggs had two assists and Nick Crennan along with John Sommi both had an assist.

Ellis Llewellyn caused two turnovers with five ground balls, Tommy O'Connor came away with four ground balls and Noah Isaacson along with Holden Kammerer both had three apiece.

Jack Beatty went 15-of-28 from the X with eight ground ball and Luke Mutterer improved to 5-0 in the cage with a career-high 14 saves.

F&M set a program with 75 shots, owned ground balls at a 41-31 clip and went 16-of-20 in clear attempts.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M hosts Ursinus at 3:00 p.m.
