LANCASTER, Pa. – Johns Hopkins used big first and third quarters to upend Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team, 67-45, on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference (CC) play.

The Diplomats fell to 11-13, 9-10 CC while the Blue Jays improved to 16-8, 13-6 CC.

Johns Hopkins took a quick hold of the contest by scoring the game's first 11 points en route to a 15-2 advantage at 2:29 after a layup by Kristin Ralston. A layup by Kristin Hamill marked F&M's lone points in the run. A three-pointer by Meg Navarro ended the Blue Jays' run, as the Diplomats closed out the first quarter scoring seven of the final 11 points. F&M trailed 20-9 entering the second stanza.

F&M closed the gap to seven over the first three minutes of the second period, spearheaded by a pair of 2-for-2 showings by Kenna Williams at the free-throw line, to make the score 24-17. The two sides traded buckets over the next four minutes before Johns Hopkins splashed back-to-back threes to take a 34-21 lead into the break.

The Blue Jays opened up the third with back-to-back Diarra Oden baskets en route to a 12-4 run over the first seven and a half minutes of the frame, taking a 46-25 lead. F&M edged Johns Hopkins over the remainder of the stanza as Hamill and Williams both shot 2-for-2 at the line to close the deficit to 48-29 entering the final stanza.

A three by Navarro and a layup by D'Naisha Bellamy-Greene were key installments for F&M's comeback effort as the Diplomats opened the fourth on a 15-10 surge. With the score 58-40 in favor of the Blue Jays at 5:38, F&M's comeback ended there as Johns Hopkins ended the game with a 9-1 run, making the final score 67-45 after an Aleah Spruell three-ball.

Ogden led all scorers with 18 points for Johns Hopkins.

Williams paced F&M's offense with 14 points behind 4-of-8 shooting from the field and a 6-for-6 performance at the charity stripe. The sophomore also corralled a game-high nine boards.

Hamill chipped in with eight points and four rebounds while Sarosha Parsons contributed six points and four boards. Navarro went 2-for-2 from behind the arc, along with a steal and an assist.

The Blue Jays out-shot F&M from the field, 41%-34%. Johns Hopkins also owned a 13-7 disparity in steals, committing just 12 total turnovers to F&M's 18.

The Diplomats remain in Lancaster for the regular-season finale against Ursinus at 1:00 p.m. F&M heads into the weekend's final game in a three-way tie with Swarthmore and Muhlenberg for the fifth and final playoff spot. A Diplomat win on Saturday over the Bears and losses from Swarthmore against McDaniel and Muhlenberg against Gettysburg would clinch the program's first CC Playoff berth since 2011-12.
