Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall women's basketball survived a late charge in the second half to squeak by Ursinus 54-45 on Tuesday evening at the Mayser Center in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats (3-2, 1-1 CC) fended off a 14-0 run by the Bears (0-4, 0-2 CC) in the fourth quarter to escape with the nine point victory.
F&M started out hot in the first quarter as the Diplomats held an early 7-0 lead within the first three minutes of play. Kenzie Bradley scored five points in that quick start for the Diplomats. F&M's hot start gave them a six point advantage at the first break.
The second quarter displayed even more defensive firepower as F&M clamped down on the Bears offense to the tune of a mere five points. A 7-2 spurt midway through the quarter, highlighted by more hot shooting from Bradley led the way for F&M to lead 30-13 at the half.
An early layup by
Kenna Williams and three-pointer by
Alisyn Narracci within the first two minutes of the second half surged F&M to their biggest lead of the game to 22. The tides changed direction for the remainder of the quarter, as Ursinus rattled off a 14-0 run. Narracci ended the scoreless skid for the Diplomats with a made layup with 1:12 remaining in the third.
Natalie Kolb added to the scoring punch, swishing a three with 41 seconds left in the third to give F&M a 40-29 lead after the third.

Kenna Williams layup with 7:01 to play pushed the F&M lead to 44-31, but the Bears gave it another run. Another 12-1 run by Ursinus cut the lead to just two with 3:05 to play. Both teams went cold until
D'Naisha Bellamy-Greene's six free throws down the stretch secured the 54-45 win for the Diplomats.
Bellamy-Greene led the way in points with 14 off the bench, including 6-8 from the line.
Kenna Williams posted a double-double with a dozen points and boards to pair with three swats.
Natalie Kolb came a bucket and board shy of a double-double with a career high nine rebounds with nine points.
F&M will now begin their three-game road trip after the Thanksgiving break starting at No. 20 Christopher Newport's arena on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.
