CARLISLE, Pa. – Lexi Salerno once again led the women's cross country team, this time placing sixth overall, to help her team to a second place finish at the Little Three Meet. Dickinson both hosted and won Friday's meet while the Diplomats were able to secure a convincing 21-36 head-to-head win against Gettysburg.
Salerno completed the 5K course in a time of 19:32 as she was the first finisher outside of nationally-ranked Dickinson's runners. The Red Devils were ranked ninth nationally in the preseason poll. After Salerno's finish, F&M packed up as a team and claimed four of the six spots from 11th through 16th place to get their team of five finishers across the line. Emma Kline (19:49), Elizabeth O'Connell (19:57), Grace Miske (20:01),and Alysse Danyi (20:11) were all part of that pack.
Eight total Diplomats competed on the 5,000 meter course. June Sanchez was the team's sixth runner with a time of 20:46. Rounding out the Diplomats' contingent were Laura Greene (21:20) and Kate Henderson (21:24) as they finished in back-to-back positions.
With two meets in just under a week's time, Franklin & Marshall will now have an extended training period as it prepares for the regular 6,000 meter races which will begin for the team during the month of October. The first of those events will be the prestigious Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, October 1.
