Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team made the quick trip to Lancaster Bible on Wednesday evening, but neither squad was able to beat the opposing defense throughout the scoreless draw. The Diplomats (8-1-4) ran their unbeaten streak to 11 consecutive matches with their shutout versus the Chargers (8-3-4).
Sam Farrell made a game-high five saves to preserve his half of the shutout as the anchor of the F&M defense. The Diplomats put four shots of their own on goal, but LBC goalie Isaac Barrow was up to the test every time. Both sides earned five corner kicks throughout the match.
Lancaster Bible held a slight 5-4 edge in shots after 45 minutes of action. Each goalie made one save during the opening half. Joshua Slager had F&M's first shot on goal during the 22nd minute of action, while Farrell made his only save of the half just over four minutes later.
The second half saw F&M hold a 9-6 advantage in shots as both sides put a pair of shots on goal during the opening 10 minutes. Koa Kaliebe had two of the Diplomats' three shots on goal during those final 45 minutes, with his attempt during the 71st minute being the final shot on goal of the evening for F&M. Farrell wrapped up his shutout with stops in the 75th and 79th minute. The Diplomats did have the final two shots of the contest during the final five minutes of regulation, but both of those shots were just off target.
Farrell and the Diplomats now have four shutouts on the year following Wednesday's draw. The Diplomats have not allowed more than one goal in any contest since the opening weekend of the season, a stretch that coincides with the team's unbeaten streak. Kaliebe led the Diplomats with four shots against the Chargers, with Philip Monos and Adam Green also having multiple shot attempts.
Tonight's match marked the final non-conference match of the regular season for the Diplomats. They now have four remaining Centennial Conference contests during the second half of October. The first of those clashes will be this Saturday as the team travels to Swarthmore for a 1 p.m. start.
