LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team sent 10 individuals to the finals on day one of its home invitational. The Diplomats also added a number of strong relay performances to highlight their day one performance.

F&M's highest placement came in the 200 Freestyle relay where the team of Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe, Julie McFadden, Rachel Baker, and Sophie Moyer took third with a time of 1:37.87 to open Friday night's session.

On the individual side, McFadden was also the team's highest placer as she finished in a tie for fourth in the 50 Freestyle following her time of 24.30 seconds. Her relay teammate Lahmann-Metcalfe advanced to the "B" final of the 50 Free, while Moyer and Baker were second and third in the "C" final.

Georgia May also made the "A" final of the 500 Freestyle. She swam 5:14.88 to make the top race on Friday night and finished sixth in that event. Emma Devine and Sophie Bergstrom were 10th and 13th after qualifying for the "B" final, with first-year Kathy Peitz-Diaz qualifying for the "C" final. Catherine Crampton was another individual finalist for the Diplomats, placing 15th overall after swimming in the "B" final of the 200 Individual Medley.

The Franklin & Marshall Invitational continues throughout this weekend. Saturday morning's session will now begin at 9:30 a.m. instead of the originally scheduled 10 a.m. start. The finals are once again set for a 6 p.m. session inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center.
