Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team overcame an early ten point deficit to take a fourth quarter lead, but ultimately dropped in Centennial Conference (CC) action to Washington College 62-55 on Thursday evening. The Shorewomen (13-8, 9-7 CC) broke a 53-53 knot late in the fourth quarter with a 9-2 game-ending run to overtake the Diplomats (9-12, 7-9 CC).
F&M marched to its first lead of the game at roughly the midway point of the first frame as a result of a
Quinn Galligan jump shot. However, the lead was short-lived as Washington closed the quarter on a 11-0 run as a buzzer-beating three boosted the Shorewomen to a 17-7 advantage.
The Diplomats vaulted to a 15-4 start in the second frame to snatch a 22-21 lead with 4:02 left in the second frame, thanks to two made free throws by
D'Naisha Bellamy-Greene from the charity stripe. F&M relinquished the lead back shortly after in result of a Shorewomen three pointer, but the Diplomats kept pace the rest of the half, trailing just 32-27 at the break.
The Shorewomen held a lead as large as seven in the third frame, but the Diplomats clawed their way back to a 44-43 deficit after three quarters of play. Eventually, the Diplomats boosted back to a 45-44 advantage with 8:24 remaining in the contest after an
Ally Trebelev jumper. F&M expanded the lead to five at 53-48 with 3:04 remaining, as
Alisyn Narracci unleashed two triples off the bench to give the Diplomats their widest lead of the contest.
The Shorewomen responded immediately with an 8-0 spurt to regain a three point lead with 36 seconds left. A
Kenna Williams layup sliced the deficit to one (56-55) with 26 seconds remaining, but the Diplomats went silent the rest of the way as Washington closed the game out with six unanswered.

Turnovers changed the ball game, however, as the Diplomats committed 21 giveaways, ten more than Washington. The Shorewomen converted 25 points off those turnovers, to the Diplomats' seven.
Kenna Williams led F&M with 18 points, the lone Diplomat in double figures. Williams also continues her dominating presence down low, hauling in 12 rebounds and swatting four blocks.
