Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Shay Adamson's bouncing shot finds the back of the net to help Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (3-1-1) slip past Penn State Harrisburg (2-2-2) 2-1 Wednesday night.
Tied 1-1 in the 89th minute, Shay Adamson sent a crossing pass off a free kick into the box. The pass was broken up and headed back to Adamson by a Lion defender. The midfielder then sent a bouncing shot that weaved through the crowded box and into the bottom right corner of the net to give the Diplomats the lead. The goal is Adamson's first of the season.
F&M got on the scoreboard first in the 15th minute of play as Koa Kaliebe sent a crossing pass into the center of the box. For the second time in as many home games, it was a header from Oscar Horwitz that opened the scoring for F&M. Horwitz's second goal of the season already matches the defender's total for his rookie campaign. Kaliebe's assist was his first point of the 2022 season after he scored three goals and assisted on two others during his first-year campaign a season ago.
Penn State Harrisburg had the advantage in shots throughout the night as they launched 13 shots from all angles, but a strong defensive presence from the Diplomats severely limited the Lions' opportunities on goal. The Lions' score came with just over five minutes to go as F&M was whistled for a foul in the box and Marc Rogers converted his penalty kick opportunity to tie the game at 1-1.
Goalkeeper Sam Farrell made four saves in net during the victory.
Following a strong start to the non-conference schedule, men's soccer will open Centennial Conference play this Saturday against defending conference champion Washington College. That game will close a busy day on Tylus Field as the Diplomats and Shoremen get underway at 6 p.m. Field hockey (12 p.m.) and women's soccer (3 p.m.) will also be in action on Tylus Field that day.
