Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (6-9, 3-7 CC) fell in its Centennial Conference (CC) game against Johns Hopkins (11-4, 8-2 CC), 57-37, Wednesday evening on the road. The Blue Jays used a big second half effort, outscoring the Diplomats 32-18 in the final 20 minutes to win the game.
F&M kept the score tight in the first half with the lead changing hands multiple times in the first quarter.
Trailing 15-11 with eight minutes left until halftime, Lizzie Neville swiped a steal and laid her shot in to cut the deficit to two points. Johns Hopkins responded with a five-point swing to take a 20-13 lead with 4:47 left on the clock. Natalie Kolb and Neville each knocked down a jumper to get F&M within three points with three minutes remaining in the half, but JHU followed with another five-point swing. Hailey Cabanas found Leila Walton in stride for the layup to cut the Blue Jays' lead to 25-19 going into the halftime break.
Down 32-21 with 7:31 left in the third quarter, Quinn Galligan converted a three-point play to cut the JHU lead to eight. After the Blue Jays knocked down two points, Ally Trebelev splashed a three-pointer move the Diplomats within seven with just over six minutes remaining in the period. The teams traded buckets with Trebelev hitting a pair of free throws to cut Johns Hopkins lead to 38-31 with 3:21 left in the third. The seven-point deficit was the closest F&M came to catching JHU as the Blue Jays outscored the Diplomats, 19-6, to close out the contest.
Neville led the Diplomats in scoring with 11 points. The first-year guard also tallied three steals and a block in the game.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action Saturday when it hosts Haverford at 1:00 p.m. in the Mayser Center.
