LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team won its seventh consecutive dual with a 205-48 triumph over Susquehanna on Friday night inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center. Ten different Diplomats combined for the 12 individual wins in addition to a sweep of the two relay races.
Patrick Rooney and Willem Stoll both captured two individual events for the Diplomats. Rooney took gold in both the 100 Breaststroke (59.16) and 200 Breaststroke (2:09.98). Stoll took home top honors in the 200 Freestyle (1:43.71) and 500 Freestyle (4:44.41).
Both the 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley relays featured Thomas Smolinski and Ben Lockey. Lockey was also an individual winner in the 50 Freestyle (21.50). Matt Hopkins and John Devaney joined their teammates on the frestyle relay, while Sean Conley and Dylan Merritt were members of the winning medley relay. In addition to taking part in the relay victories, Sean Conley (200 Backstroke; 1:55.77), John Devaney (100 Freestyle; 46.89), and Dylan Merritt (100 Butterfly; 51.94) all claimed individual victories.
Other event winners on the night for the Diplomats included Jason Creed (1,000 Freestyle; 10:01.55), Sam Kamdin (100 Backstroke; 51.52), Cameron Mehta (200 IM; 1:59.15), and Jacob Nelson (200 Butterfly; 2:00.46). Kamdin's time was particulary strong as it moved him up to sixth in school history for the 100 Backstroke.
Men's swimming will wrap up the dual meet portion of its schedule next Saturday when the Diplomats welcome Washington College to campus for Centennial Conference action that is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
