LANCASTER, Pa. - With a season-opening quad meet at the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming team defeated Dickinson, Ursinus, and Washington College on Saturday afternoon.
On the day, the Diplomats saw 21 top-three finishes, including eight in first place. Leading the way for F&M was
John Devaney, who helped capture wins in the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay, while also placing first individually in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle.
In the 100 yard butterfly,
Evan Willertz, who was a part of the 200 yard medley relay team, finished in first. Other individuals wins for the Diplomats included
Henry Tavens in the 200 yard freestyle,
Sean Conley in the 100 yard backstroke, and
Patrick Rooney in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Additionally, first-year
Matthew Tilghman impressed in his debut, finishing in second in both the 500 and 1,000 yard freestyle.
F&M will next compete on Friday, October 27 at 5:30 p.m. in a dual meet at Gettysburg.
