LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team dropped its home opener, 9-0, to No. 8 Virginia Friday evening in the Mayser Center. The Cavaliers got off to the early advantage and never looked back as the visitors swept the Diplomats in the match.
Facing a 2-0 deficit,
Kyle Broadhurst picked up a game-victory in the No. 1 slot to avoid the sweep. Despite battling to the end in the fourth game, Broadhurst fell 14-12 to drop the match.
Marco DiFilippo faced a similar situation in the No. 3 slot, earning a 11-9 win in the third game. However, the junior was defeated in the fourth game, 11-4.
Noah Katzer got off to an early lead in the No. 5 slot with an 11-9 win in the first game, but his opponent rallied to overtake the match and win, 3-1.
No. 19 Franklin & Marshall looks to get back into the win column as it hosts Bates Saturday at 1:00 p.m. inside the Mayser Center.
