LANCASTER, Pa. - Behind 11 first-place finishes in 14 events, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming team dominated Saturday afternoon's dual meet against Mary Washington. The 11 wins consisted of nine different individual winners and two relay race victories.
John Devaney played a hand in three of the first-place finishes, winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.49, in addition to being a part of the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that were victorious in their respective races.
Sean Conley, was another multi-winner for the Diplomats, earning first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.69, along with being a part of the 200-yard medley relay team.
Patrick Rooney and
Evan Willertz, both of whom were also on the 200-yard medley relay winning team, indivually won the 200-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly, respectively.
Sam Kamdin and
Thomas Smolinski finished first in the 200-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle, respectively, while also helping win the 400-yard freestyle relay.
First-year
Matthew Tilghman won an individual title in the 1,000 yard freestyle race, marking the second time this season he's placed first in the event. He joined Kamdin, Devaney, and Smolinski in the 400-yard medley relay win.
Additionally, F&M saw
Henry Tavens and
Kyle Samson win individual titles in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, respectively.
The Diplomats will next compete on Friday, November 17 at the F&M Invitational, which span three days.
