GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team set a school record in the first event of the 2023 Centennial Conference Championships to highlight Thursday's opening session. The Diplomats are currently in fourth place in the team standings with 78 points after the quick opening session that featured just two relay events.
F&M's 200 medley relay of Sophie Bergstrom, Sophie Moyer, Amelia Bothwell, and Julie McFadden set the school record by finishing third overall with a time of 1:45.92, eclipsing the record from a season ago. The Diplomats also took third in the consolation final (11th overall), hitting the wall at 1:49.02.
The evening concluded with the 800 freestyle relay where Georgia May, Sarah Gartner, Catherine Crampton, and Emma Devine posted a time of 7:56.31 to place sixth overall. The "B" relay finished in 13th with the fifth best time (8:14.76) in the consolation final.
The 2023 Centennial Conference Championships continue Friday with the preliminary session at 10 a.m., with the finals slated to get underway at 6 p.m. Events to be contested Friday are the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, and 400 medley relay.
