LANCASTER, Pa. - Honoring its four seniors in their final home meet, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming team fell to Johns Hopkins 81-25. The graduating seniors for the Diplomats included
Sean Conley,
Matt Hopkins,
Ethan Kwon and
Jack Rowe.
F&M saw its most success in the 500-yard freestyle in which Rowe and and
Ryan Kornacki finished second and third with times of 4:52:26 and 4:52.52, respectively. With the pair finishing within 0.26 seconds of each other, Rowe fell less than 0.70 seconds shy of first place. Kornacki also claimed a win in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:02.87, marking a personal best for the first-year.
Additionally, the Diplomats recorded four top-three finishes in the four relay races of the afternoon. The team of Conley,
Patrick Rooney,
Evan Willertz and
John Devaney recorded a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Later on, Matthew Hurford,
Henry Tavens,
Sam Kamdin and Devaney combined for second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Ending the meet with the 200-yard freestyle relay, Devaney, Tomek Smolinski, Kamdin and Hurford placed second, and were followed by Hopkins,
Tim Turnbull, Conley and
Brady Saunders in third.
F&M will next travel to Swarthmore for a dual meet on Saturday, February 3 at 1 p.m.
