Men's Swimming Ends F&M Invite Day One in Third

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team opened the Franklin & Marshall invite with a third-place showing through the first day, ending as the best DIII school of the six competing. The Diplomats secured three top-three finishes and seven top-ten finishes across five events. 

Sam Kamdin, Thomas Smolinski, John Devaney, and Ben Lockey were third in the 200 freestyle relay, with their time of 1:23.07 becoming the program's ninth-best time in the event. Henry Tavens, Brady Saunders, Tim Turnbull, and Noah Drexler claimed sixth.

The team of Kamdin, Patrick Rooney, Evan Willertz, and Devaney claimed second place in the 400 medley relay, while Nick Lowell, Luke Circus, Turnbull, and Smolinski were tenth.

Matthew Tilghman had the best individual result by placing second in the 500 freestyle.

Smolinski was seventh in the 50 freestyle, while Kamdin was a spot behind in eighth.

The Diplomats return to the Kunkel Aquatics Center on Saturday for preliminaries at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. Events on the docket include the 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke.
