Men's Swimming Holds Fourth Place through F&M Invite Day Two

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team earned five top-ten finishes and saw a few individuals move up the F&M performance list on day two of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. The Diplomats are fourth in the points standings through the end of the second day.

The team of Sam Kamdin, Evan Willertz, John Devaney, and Henry Tavens earned a third-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay.

Kamdin, Patrick Rooney, Willertz, and Thomas Smolinski earned third in the 200 yard medley relay.

John Devaney finished fourth in the A Final of the 200 freestyle and reduced his PR by 0.04 seconds. Henry Tavens claimed seventh with a time of 1:47.47. 

A fifth-place A final result for Rooney, who finished the race in 57.33, moves him from sixth in program history in the event into a tie for third place, sharing the spot with Ryan Caffrey '18. 

With a time of 51.42 to finish second in the C Final of the 100 butterfly, Sam Kamdin logged F&M's sixth-best time in the event in program history. Tim Turnbull's new PR of 51.46, tying for third in the C Final, keeps him ninth in program history. Evan Willertz won the C final, finishing about a second off his PR.

The Diplomats conclude the Franklin & Marshall Invitational tomorrow with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow's races include the 400 freestyle relay, 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, and 200 butterfly.
