LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team capped the Franklin & Marshall Invitational weekend by establishing a new program record in the 400 freestyle relay and totaling five total top-ten finishes. The team ended the weekend in seventh place.
The team of Madi Bickford, Matti Harvey, Sophie Moyer, and Catherine Crampton logged a 3:33.44 in the 400 freestyle relay to earn fifth in the event, establishing a new program standard in the process. The previous best time was set by Julia Pavlov, Kathy Hirsch, Erin Fago, and Julie McFadden in 2020.Â
Bickford earned eighth place in the 100 freestyle in 52.91, again logging a spot on the F&M performance list this weekend. She moves to third in program history with the mark.
Georgia May earned third in the 1650 freestyle and posted the best time of any DIII competitor in the event.Â
Crampton earned fifth in the 200 breaststroke, reducing her PR in the process with a time of 2:23.96. She remains second in program history behind Moyer's time of 2:22.07 set in 2023.Â
Crampton also established a new program record in the 100 IM, placing sixth in the morning time trials with a time of 1:00.13.Â
Other Diplomats moved into the top ten with their times in the event including Sophie Bergstorm (1:02.38, 3rd), Alexa Girasole-Culhane (1:03.61, 4th), Matti Harvey (1:04.14, 6th), and Maddie Mealey (1:05.03, 10th)
The Diplomats next compete on Friday, December 6, at 5:00 p.m. as they host Centennial Conference opponent McDaniel College.
