Crampton Sets New 400 IM Program Record at CC Championship Day Three

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team competed in the third day of the Centennial Conference Swimming Championships with the day highlighted by Catherine Crampton setting a new program best in the 400 IM and a record-tying performance in the 200 freestyle relay. 

Crampton's 400 IM time of 4:31.64 earned her fourth place in the championship final, while she moved from sixth to first in program history. The previous record was 4:32.57, set by Melissa Mullen '18.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Madi Bickford, Matti Harvey, Sophie Moyer, and Rachel Baker finished in third place in the championship final and recorded the exact same time as the program record at 1:36.33. This time was initially set by Julie McFadden '23, Moyer, Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe '24, and Baker back in 2023.    

Rubani Sidhu, Erin Suter, Stephanie Dolan, and Katarina Dominguez were third in the consolation final with a time of 1:40.81. 

Sophie Bergstrom claimed seventh in the 100 backstroke championship final with a time of 58.16. Her 57.54 mark in the preliminaries moved her from fifth to third in program history. Caitlin Barr entered the performance list in the 100 backstroke with her preliminary time. She was fifth in the consolation final, but her 59.63 in the prelims puts her seventh in program history. Baker claimed second in the consolation final with a time of 59.51, while Kala Zingle was sixth with a time of 1:00.73. 

Barr did earn a spot in the 100 butterfly championship final, placing in seventh with a time of 59.54. Moyer tied for second in the consolation final with a time of 59.10.

Samantha Taylor and Riley Reader each earned a consolation final spot for the 100 breaststroke. Taylor was sixth with a time of 1:10.61, while Reader was eighth with a mark of 1:12.99. 

Georgia May and Ava Tseng raced in the consolation final of the 200 freestyle, claiming second and third place, respectively, with times of 1:57.02 and 1:58.04.

In individual events, the Diplomats earned three spots in championship finals, while eight placed in consolation finals. Through the third day, the Diplomats maintain third place with 293.5 points so far.

The Diplomats conclude the 2025 Centennial Conference Swimming Championship on Sunday with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m and finals at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow's events include the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 400 freestyle relay.
