Women's Swimming Sets Two More Program Records, Ends CC Championship in Third

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team wrapped up the Centennial Conference Swimming Championship with two additional broken program records and a third place finish in the standings, a one-spot improvement from last year. Madi Bickford, Caitlin Barr, Sophie Moyer, and Matti Harvey broke the 400 freestyle record for the second time this season, while Catherine Crampton became the new record holder in the 200 breaststroke. 

Bickford, Barr, Moyer, and Harvey claimed third in the 400 freestyle relay championship final with a time of 3:32.31 to set a new program record in the event. They broke the record of 3:33.44 that set at November's Franklin & Marshall Invitational by Bickford, Harvey, Moyer, and Crampton. Ava Tseng, Rachel Baker, Crampton, and Erin Suter were third in the consolation final with a time of 3:34.38. 

Crampton claimed bronze in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.58 to set the new program standard in the event. She surpassed Moyer's time of 2:22.07 that was set in 2023. Riley Reader was seventh in the consolation final with a time of 2:36.34. 

Georgia May earned a bronze medal in the 1650 freestyle, finishing the race in 17:43.55, while Tseng was eighth with a time of 18:20.80.

Sophie Bergstrom was seventh in the 200 backstroke championship final with a time of 2:07.06. She set a 2:06.61 in prelims which moved her from fifth to fourth in program history past Anna Hess '19. Kala Zingle was second in the consolation final with a time of 2:09.85, which is now the seventh-best time in the event in program history.

Several Diplomats featured in the 100 freestyle consolation final, and three new times were logged onto the program's performance list in the event. Bickford was third with  a time of 52.85, and she broke her tie of 53.07 with Jillian Albus '17 to solely hold third in program history. Moyer and Barr tied for sixth in the consolation final with a time of 53.65. Moyer set a time of 53.04 in preliminaries to move to fourth in program history, while Barr's 53.65 finals time is the program's tenth-best time. Baker was eighth with a time of 53.68. 

Emily Albert claimed eighth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:23.18.

The team finished the night with four championship final appearances and eight consolation final spots.

By the end of the Centennial Conference Championship weekend, F&M made a one-spot year-on-year improvement with a third place finish with 421.5, set four new program event records while tying one record, and earned six event medals.
