LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team won three events at Friday's season-opening Diplomat Open inside the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. Annalise Kauffman (800m), Katie Scott (mile), and the 4x400 meter relay were each tops in their respective events during a strong start to the 2024-25 season.
Kauffman won the 800 meter race in a time of 2:26.45, with some of her closest competition coming from teammate Abby Bachman (2:29.28) who finished third in that same event. Franklin & Marshall swept the top three positions in the mile, with Scott's time of 5:26.62 leading the way. Jordyn Collie (5:30.39) and Tara Silverman (5:30.61) claimed the next spots in the individual standings.
The Diplomats capped the night with a win in the 4x400 relay as the team of Bachman, Collie, Emily Jones, and Kauffman finished in a time of 4:18.78. In addition to the event champions, F&M put two more top 10 marks in school history on the track with two first-years making their collegiate debuts. Hayden Adams recorded the 10th-best 60 meter hurdle time in school history at 10.26 seconds to place sixth in that event. Bella Johnson was the runner-up in the 400 meters (1:02.67) after she registered the 10th-best time in school history.
Reigning Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year Lauren Dunnigan got her season off to a strong start as she took third in the 60 meter dash (8.14 seconds) and sixth in the 200 meters (28.50). F&M's field events were highlighted by Adams placing seventh in the pole vault after clearing 2.75 meters to make her the sixth-ranked Diplomat in school history for that event.
With finals and the winter break now approaching, the Diplomats have over a month away from competition before returning to action on Saturday, January 18 at Catholic's Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic.
