LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team opened the 2025 Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Friday, placing nine swimmers into individual finals with two A individual Final appearances while earning fifth in the 200 freestyle relay and eighth in the 400 medley relay.

The team of Sam Kamdin, Thomas Smolinski, Ben Lockey, Brady Saunders earned 50 points for the Diplomats towards the team score with their fifth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, while Ethan Ferris, Noah Drexler, Connor Marshall, and Riley Williams claimed 13th. 

In the 400 medley relay, Kamdin, Patrick Rooney, Williams, and Lockey were eighth while Nick Lowell, Luke Healey, Ferris, and Thomas Smolinski finished in 13th.

Lockey and Kamdin earned A Final places in the 50 freestyle, claiming seventh and eighth, respectively. Saunders tied for third in the B Final, while Smolinski was fourth in the C Final.

Drexler and Matthew Tilghman claimed second and third in the 500 freestyle B Final, while Joe Clarkson was second in the C Final.

Through day one, the Diplomats sit in fifth place with 263.5 points, totaling the most points from the four competing Centennial Conference sides that include Swarthmore, Dickinson, and Washington College.

The Diplomats return to the Kunkel Aquatic Center on Saturday to compete in the 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 800 Freestyle Relay, and 200 Medley Relay.
